A court has sentenced a man shot by the BGP to eight months in prison.
The sentence was given on Monday.
On March 13, Syedul Amin (35) s/o Abul Khair was shot by the BGP as he travelled on the river on a business trip near Kunar Khali, Maungdaw North. Back then BGP claimed that he was bringing swords from his associates on the Bangladesh border and was about to attack a Rakhine settlement.
The materials that BGP pointed out as swords were later identified to be wooden logs.
Now the BGP says that Syedul is guilty of trading wood without proper permission.
His business associate Hala Shuna (30) s/o Abu Yusuf has also received a similar sentence.
They were not allowed to defend themselves in the court.
