Police and BGP are forcing Rohingyas to give poultry and sheep supposedly for bearing the expenses of the rescued migrants.
On Wednesday, security forces knocked the doors of many Maungdaw households asking them to donate for their fellow people.
“The BGP told us that we must pay for them as they are our people,” says one Maungdaw man unwilling to be identified.
Those who have been unable to give poultry have been forced to pay money.
Some goats were also seized by the security forces.
Our sources however say that no food or aid has been given to the rescued migrants.
The Reuters have also confirmed this.
Locals say this is just an excuse for the police and BGP to earn some extra income.
The ship with 727 migrants was brought to Maungdaw on Wednesday.
