Authorities are frantically searching for the owners of four houses that burnt down at Saheb Bazar, Maungdaw South on February 12.
The state government says that the owners who planned to blame the incident on Rakhine nationalists burnt down the houses themselves.
However, locals say they have no such connection to the international media and neither were there any attempts to blame Rakhines for the incidents.
The owners of the burned houses are currently in hiding. They are Ali Miah s/o Nazir Hossain, Salamat Ullah s/o Md Shafi, Monir Alam and Md Alam, both sons of Abdul Majid.
Locals also said they were poor day labourers and since the incident, their families are living on the edge of starvation as there is no other earning members in the families.
