Rohingya fishermen rescued eleven migrants thrown overboard from a trafficker’s boat near Merulla, Maungdaw South on Sunday night.
According to the rescued migrants, they were thrown into the sea after they fell sick and traffickers complained they were spreading diseases. Altogether 20 were thrown into the sea from this ship.
Traffickers could also have thrown them out as in a hurry to clear out the human cargo, they are killing many migrants who cannot afford to pay the ransom quickly.
Meanwhile around six Bangladeshi nationals were handed over to the Bangladesh Border Guards by Rohingya fishermen from Merulla on Monday. It is not clear if these are the same group.
