A Rohingya Muslim farmer has been assaulted and arrested by military in Rajar Bil, Rathidaung, according to our local correspondent.
Abdul Qader (45), s/o Abdullah owns a patch of land in the Yong Chong area. On Monday, military personal noticed a stack of logs on his land and questioned Qader about them.
Qader replied that some Rakhine men had forced him to stack the logs on his land. The military asked him to point out the men. Qader said how could he point them out when they were not there.
This angered the military and they started beating him. He was then handed over to BGP.
The last few days have seen tensions between Rakhine militants and security forces in the area.
