Military burned a Rakhine village in Mrauk U on Tuesday after residents did not allow them to raid a monastery and look for guns.
Acting on a tip off, some military men went to a monastery in Boldi para. However the monks did not let the armed forces enter the monastery saying that would desecrate the holiness of the religious building. Meanwhile villagers also joined the monks in protesting the presence of the army.
In response the military broight reinforcements and set fore to the whole village for ‘supporting’ the Arakan Army.
Violence between Rakhine nationalists supporting insurgent group Arakan Army and government backed security forces have created new unrest in Arakan state.
