Military have blockaded a village in Buthidaung after asking residents to leave.
Last Friday, military told residents of Furan fara in Tami Cong to evacuate their lands saying it was required for government use.
The next day, soldiers from battalion 352 blockaded the area making it impossible for villagers to go out for work. As a result there has been no income for the residents this week.
As most villagers are dependent on a daily income, many are spending days without food.
Villagers say that they will have to sleep in the open if they are evicted as they don’t have the means to build new huts. As the monsoon season is in full swing, it would be especially difficult.
