Military have seized crops from fields belonging to Rohingya Muslims in Hawar Bil, Maungdaw South, according to our local correspondent.
On Saturday, military men suddenly turned up in Hawar Bil and started cutting vegetable crops. They then loaded the food grains to their trucks before driving away.
The affected farmers are Noor Amin s/o Ershad Ullah, Noor Hasan s/o Ahmed Hossain, his brothers Rafique, Ehsan and Solim Ullah, and Imam Hossain s/o Lal.
The incident has left the farmers financially broken and they have no other means to provide food for their families the entire season. Many local Rohingyas are also dependent on work in the fields as day labourers. As they are forbidden from going elsewhere to look for work, they also face hard days ahead.
