Henchmen of late Md Sultan Ahmed are robbing valuables of Rohingyas in Kiladong, Maungdaw South.
Since the murder of the infamous government collaborator Sultan, all Rohingya men had fled the village fearing arrest and torture in the hands of security forces. A few men who have been caught in their homes have faced brutal torture in custody.
Some days later, many women also fled fearing the repeat of January 2014 when more than forty women and children were killed by a mob when they failed to locate the menfolk.
In their absence, only the elderly and the children remain in their homes at night. Henchmen loyal to Sultan have used this opportunity to break in the houses of villagers and take all valuables. Many villagers who return to their homes will find it looted.
Many families have also been forced to pay money to the henchmen for ‘protecting the village’ at night.
The gang was created by Sultan to aid the security forces against the general populace in this village where tensions have remained high since the massacre of January 2014.
