A Rakhine mob is taking position near an Akyab village since Tuesday night leading to fears of violence.
Tensions were earlier created when on Sunday, a Rohingya Muslim man from Hal Sang was meeting a Rakhine friend in the nearby village of Aung Daing. Here some Rakhine extremists attacked the Muslim man and started assaulting him. The Rakhine friend however intervened and managed to rescue his friend.
On Monday, three Rakhine miscreants got hold of the man who saved the Muslim and took him to the fields and were taking preparations to cut him up. However somehow the Muslims were alerted and within minutes they rushed to the spot and apprehended the miscreants.
They were later taken into police custody.
However at late night, many Rakhines were seen taking up positions and seemed prepared to attack the Rohingya village.
Lines of communications have since been down and it has not been possible to determine what happened next.
