Security forces have intensified their presence in different areas of Maungdaw South, according to our local correspondents.
The village tracts of Naraing Chong, Godusera, Garaite Beel, Yong Chong and surrounding areas have seen extraordinary security measures as police and BGP have flooded the area since Friday.
Local Rohingya villagers, most of them dependent on day labour have had no access in the last three days as their movement has been restricted due to increased security. As many families are dependent on a daily income, they are going hungry because of the restrictions.
Rohingya Muslims in Arakan already face a desperate humanitarian situation as they are forbidden to travel out of their neighbourhoods.
Meanwhile security forces told Rohingya Muslims in Godusera on Friday that they will ease travel restricitions once they hand over ‘terrorists’ in their midst. They also commanded them to give up their white cards without ado.
