A refugee from Nayapara camp in Bangladesh has been arrested in Maungdaw by BGP.
BGP alleges that Sultan (17), s/o Shamsul Majhi is a terrorist.
Our sources however confirmed that Sultan is an agricultural day labour.
On Friday, Sultan was arrested in a checkpost when under interrogation he blurted out that he was a Bangladesh refugee.
A day before, Sultan had crossed over to Burma to accompany his cousin Arefa Begum (22) who wanted to meet her parents. Another cousin Md Rafique (32) also accompanied them.
When BGP stopped them, they started asking hard questions to Sultan who confessed that they had crossed over from Bangladesh. At this point, Arefa and Rafique ran away.
Sultan has been taken to detention.
Locals in Nayapara fear for his fate as scores of Muslim prisoners have died under torture on terror related charges since 2012.
His parents have requested the UNHCR to intervene and bring their son back to safety.
