Four night guards have been assaulted and fined by BGP in Hansar Bil, Maungdaw North.
On Friday night, BGP came to the village and accused the guards of sleeping on duty at around 10pm.
The victims however claim that they were wide awake.
The BGP however proceeded to beat them up. They were then forced to pay a fine of 20,000 kyats.
The victims are Kamal Hossain, s/o Rashid Ahmed, and three brothers Nurul Amin, Gura Miah and Abul Hossain, sons of Md Hossain.
Night guards are chosen among civilians in Muslim villages in a rotary basis. They face regular assault from BGP.
