BGP launched a night raid on Hanis Surata, Maungdaw South last Wednesday.
During the raid, they stopped two men who had come out to buy cigarettes in a stall. They told the two men that they were not supposed to be out at such a late hour. The two protested saying that it was only 9pm whereas they had permission to be out till 11. This angered the BGP and they assaulted the two and arrested them. They have been identified as Osman (18) and Md Rashed (20).
The owner of the stall Abdul Jalil (32) was also arrested. They were taken to a secluded spot and detained. They were later released after they gave the BGP a chicken each.
During this time, BGP also detained another man Md Zubair and put a Bangladesh SIM in his pocket. When Zubair protested saying the SIM was not his, he was brutally beaten till he went unconscious. He was later released on the payment of 50,000 kyats.
