A nine year boy from Nayapara refugee camp has been brutally beaten by local Bangladeshi villagers on Monday.
Md Ilias, s/o Abu Taher was accused by villagers of stealing bricks from their neighbourhood. He was then handed over to the Bangladesh Border Guards (BGB) at around 9 am.
On hearing the information, refugees rushed to the Camp-in-charge who asked them to report to Ansar (auxiliary police). The Ansar-in-charge then asked the BGB to hand back the young boy over to his parents.
However, the BGB officer said that the boy cannot be released now as he has stolen 20 brickbats from local villagers.
