Police and Lawaka officials have asked locals of Shisharik para in Pathor Keela to hand over their white cards immediately on Thursday, reports our local correspondent.
Locals immediately complied with the order and almost 530 households handed over their white card.
In return the authorities did not issue any temporary document in contradiction with earlier promises. As a result the locals are left without any official document.
Locals fear that without any official documents, they will be identified as illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. When they asked Lawaka officials about the temporary documents, they got some vague replies.
This part of Pathor Keela, also known as Mrauk U has been especially targeted by authorities and Rakhine nationalists. Locals say that they are living on the edge of starvation as they have been forbidden to go fishing or collect wood in recent days.
