Sittwe Correspondent: Different forms of oppression have been continuing on Rohingya in Rakhine state by law enforcing agencies despite transition of government in Burma recently.
Oppression like extortion, torture, arbitrary arrest, restriction on movement, marriage, education, birth, religion, making shelter etc are going on unabated without any restraint which means the human rights violation is still continued by the law enforcers without caring the new elected government in Burma.
For instance, a Rohingya, Kamal Hussain 30, Hla Ma Chay village of Thankenna Union, Sittwe has started to construct a house for his family consisting of five members to live in as his family has been in troubles for years without a dwelling house.
According to source, on 21 March 2016, the Captain and Corporal U Than Soe from Communication Army Battalion, U Idris, Nur Mohamed (alias) Khin Maung Than and the village administrator of Thankenna, U Tin Hlain went to the construction place and roughly told Kamal Hussain to break down the half stood house threatening him of accusing according to law, section (Da Ka Sa).
But Kamal Hussain is now compelled to try for getting authorization from (Ma Ya Ka) authority to successfully complete his house construction by any means. Kamal has already spent 2.5 million kyat for his wooden two storey house but its works have not been completed yet. At the mean while, the aforesaid departments have imposed ban on construction for which the construction work has been halted.
Moreover, the law enforcers are continuously arresting innocent Rohingya alleging in different concocted cases to extort money and they are beaten and sent to custody if fail to pay huge amount of bribes to the law enforcing forces in various districts, particularly Maung Daw, Buthidaung, Rathedaung and Kyauk Taw of Sittwe.
Rohingya are not allowed to move place to place, marriage, to exercise religion freely, to go to University for further education etc. It seems that the law enforcement agencies will never change their evil attitude, immorality, injustice and cruelty towards Rohingya although the transition government NLD exists and rule the country, Burma since the brutal military Chief is still in power.
