Police assaulted a Rohingya man in Kyari Farung, Maungdaw North on Friday.
38 year Arif Ullah was returning home from evening prayers when police stopped him and claimed to have located a Bangladesh SIM card in his possession. He was accused of using the Bangladesh phone to keep in touch with IS terrorists based in that country.
He was then heavily assaulted in full view of the public with police using racist and demeaning slur against the religion of Islam.
Arif was later released for the payment of 150,000 kyats.
