Police have seized 1.7 million kyats from a shopkeeper as he went to purchase materials for his business on February 16.
Abu Kalam s/o Abu Siddique of Soha parang, Rathidaung went to Buthidaung to purchase products for his shop.
Kalam goes to Buthidaung every month for this business trip. He has the proper permission from the authorities. Rohingya Muslims need permission from relevant authorities to move from one area to another.
Police officials denied this and said Kalam was in Buthidaung to purchase yaba pills. They then seized the 1.7 million kyats in his possession.
The police action has broken Kalam financially and he does not have capital to run his shop, which is his only source of income.
