Kuala Lumpur Correspondent: A four day long International Conference was held primarily in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in an interactive mode that started on 23rd of May 2016.
During the four days long conference, the key issues relating to Child Marriage was presented by local and foreign speakers in the form of interactive lectures, case studies, video documentaries, skills sharing workshops, utilizing multi-media and informal discussions through active participation among the participants of the conference.
On the last day of the International Conference participants formulated a Youth Action Plan and submitted their Voluntary Pledges for the improvement of the community.
People from diverse communities as well as the Rohingya were invited to the conference. The key topics discussed during the International Conference were: 1. Early Marriage of Young and Adolescent Girls causes Impacts on Children and society. 2. Economics of Child Marriage – where do we go from here?
The Culture, Religion and Tradition: It was also discussed about affirming existing human rights agreements to strengthen the efforts to eradicate child marriage from the society for the improvement and peace of the people.
In the Conference, it was stressed over preventing the girl child using Law to End Child and Forced Marriages as well as related Human Rights Violations.
