Burma Correspondent: Rakhine Community people are grabbing the land properties of Rohingya community people in Jaliapara of Kyauk Taw Township, Akyab (Sittwe).
Earlier, the Military regime confiscated most of the land properties of Rohingyas across Arakan state and settled other communities from different parts of upper Burma including the Rakhine from Arakan on them. The Rakhine community also grabbed thousands acres of lands from Rohingyas taking the advantages of power of the military government which made most of the Rohingyas homeless and meager.
The Rakhine people of Kyauk Taw Township have started again to forcibly occupy the lands of Rohingyas and setting up huts on them in Jaliapara (Paithe Yowa) of Kyauk Taw Township. They have set up hundreds of sheds on the Rohingya owned lands recently taking the advantages of power of Rakhine State government before the NLD government coming to full power.
The Rakhine people have been instructed and encouraged by their Rakhine party leaders to take hold of the agricultural Rohingya owned lands to make them landless and all side cripple. They could realize that they will have no opportunity to grab properties of Rohingya people during the period of upcoming popular NLD ruling party which is determined or committed to ensure the rights of minorities regardless of race, ethnicity and religion in the country, according to a Rohingya leader from Kyauk Taw Township who declined to be named.
