Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: BGB and Police jointly recovered huge amount of gold and cash money from the Goldsmith of a Rakhine Community trader, Maung Maung Che of Teknaf under Cox’s Bazar on 6th of March 2016 at around 3:00 am.
Acting on a tip of, Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion no, 02 and Police forces of Teknaf police station jointly conducted a raid at the goldsmith of Maung Maung Che in Teknaf Chowdury Para area and seized 9.5 kg of gold worth about 62.5 million taka including 4285000 cash Taka, 52500 Burmese kyat and 31 Indian notes from the goldsmith. The goldsmith was also arrested along with the aforesaid gold and cash money.
The arrested was identified as Maung Maung Che 45 s/o Aung Sa, a Rakhine Community of Teknaf Chowdury Para.
Captain, Lt Colnel Abuzar Alzahid of Border Guard of Bangladesh Battalion no, 42 said, the seized gold and cash money were all handed over to the custom office, Teknaf and the owner of gold and cash taka, Maung Maung Che was handed over to Teknaf police station.
A case was lodged against the arrested with the Teknaf police station in this connection.
On the other hand, on 6th of March 2016, the Rakhine Community residents of Teknaf have staged demonstration and keep closed their goldsmiths protesting the arrest of Maung Maung Che, and seizure of gold and cash money from the goldsmith, said a Rakhine woman from Teknaf.
