Rakhine miscreants have been seen taking up positions around different village tracts of Maungdaw South.
According to eyewitnesses, mobs formed of Rakhines carrying sharp weapons have been building up near Ang Dhang, Merulla and Kullung.
The build up of the mobs comes as the authorities force Rohingyas to accept the green card. Rohingyas refuse to do so as the green card identifies the community as Bengalis.
Sources say these Rakhines are distinct from the Buddhist nationalists belonging to the Ma Ba Tha movement. Rather they seem to be government men who are trying to frighten the Rohingyas into accepting the green card.
Authorities are hoping Rohingyas will take heed of the January 2014 massacre when scores of women and children were killed by a Rakhine mob backed by security forces in the nearby village tract of Kiladong.
