Maung Daw Correspondent: A Rohingya man has been knocked down to death by Rakhine driver with his vehicle at the road of Maung Daw south in Gorakhali on 25th of Feb, 2016.
The deceased was identified as Abul Foyas 35 s/o Basu Mia of Theyegonthang (Kunnapara) lower part, of Maung Daw south.
According to locals of Gorakhali village, Abul Foyas, a resident of Theyegonthang village, used to live and work as daily laborer in Gorakhali. On 25th of Feb, 2016 while he was walking to his work station by the road side, a vehicle loaded with Hindu community people bound to Shitafuri village for worship their pagoda located there during their festival day, was driving in full speed by wrong side of the road from Maung Daw which knocked the man down at his side to critical wound. The Rakhine driver indulged in wine drove the vehicle and knocked the man down causing critical injury.
Later, the same day the victim was rushed to his house in Theyegonthang (Kunnapara) by villagers of Gorakhali in critical state where he had been for 3 days at his house and died on 28th of Feb, 2016 due to lack of better treatment as there is not any hospital in the area. The body was buried at the graveyard of the village, said a relative of the victim.
The victim’s wife alleged that no case has been registered with the police station against the culprit in this connection.
