Around 260 displaced households in Ore para, Rathedaung are living in near starvation circumstances, as the security forces are not allowing them to go to work in the nearby fields.
The families originally from So parang were driven out during the riots of 2012. Now whenever police and the BGP find the displaced people out of their homes, they are severely assaulted.
Though the IDPs are entitled to a ration, they are only allowed that in return for a hefty bribe that they cannot afford.
Some of them escape the watchful eyes of the security forces by going to the far flung mountains of Anguma. However recently, wood collectors in the hills have said that a large group of Arakan Army insurgents have set up camp in the hills. Any Muslims spotted by Arakan Army is likely to be killed.
