A Rohingya refugee in Burma para, Rashunghat near Chittagong in Bangladesh has been brutally assaulted by local gangsters.
In the past few days, the gang has been asking Enayet Ullah (27), s/o Rahmat Ullah to pay them money.
When they came for the money on Friday at around 3pm, Enayet, a poor day labourer told them it was impossible for him to pay since he was behind the monthly instalment of a loan. This angered the gangsters and they launched an assault on the refugee, injuring him seriously.
Enayet has been taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The gangsters led by local strongman Mashukka extort Rohingya refugees almost on a daily basis.
The refugees went to the police station to file a complaint but they were told that authorities will not interfere in the matter of Burmese people.
