Bangladesh Border Guards arrested 44 Rohingya refugees trying to enter their territory from different points of the Ukhiya border. They were later pushed back.
Commander of the battalion Lt Col Khondokar Saiful Alam told local media that they were humanely treated.
Refugees however told Burma Times that the Bangladesh security forces assaulted and humiliated them.
Rohingyas in Bangladesh say that in recent weeks, the Bangladesh Border Guards have adopted a more aggressive attitude towards Muslim refugees from Burma.
