Local Bangladesh villagers robbed a group of 10 refugees as they tried to enter Bangladesh territory from Gundhum on Tuesday. They were then handed over to the Bangladesh Border Guards.
In recent times, Bangladesh villagers in some of the bordering villages have formed vigilante groups after a request by their Border Guards. The Bangladesh forces say that they do not have enough personal to deal with the influx of refugees from Burma.
However the vigilante groups are involved in the robbery of Rohingya refugees.
In a separate incident on the same day, Bangladesh Border Guards intercepted 23 refugees trying to cross over at Taimbru.
The refugees were pushed back into Burma in separate groups during the night.
