Four men arrested after their relatives went missing from police custody have been released after intense negotiations with locals in Rajar Bil, Rathedaung.
Md Solim (40) s/o Sikander, Sanayet (15) s/o Hafez Ahmed, Nurul Haque (15) s/o Imam Hossain and Monjur Alam (15) s/o Noor Ahmed were arrested last week. They were then brutally tortured which included being forced to walk on nails and burned with fire.
The arrested men are the younger brothers and in the case of Nurul, son of four of the missing men. Police allege they know the whereabouts of their relatives who escaped from police custody presumably on March 16. Altogether six men went missing from custody after being brutally tortured in custody. Relatives allege they have been killed.
