Four youngsters arrested in Rajar Bil, Rathidaung are allegedly being subjected to immense torture in the Kiang Dong jail, according to our local correspondent.
The four youngsters aged between 17 to 20 are the relatives of the four Rathidaung men who went missing from last week. Altogether six men are missing from custody.
Sources say that the youngsters are tortured and questioned about the whereabouts of the six missing men. Their relatives maintain they have been killed. Police however say that they have escaped and have intensified their operations around Rajar Bil.
The six men went missing after brutal torture by BGP and police.
Meanwhile severe restrictions on movement have been placed on locals in the area making it difficult to get information. Local sources have also confirmed that there have been incidents between the military and Rakhine militants resulting in the arrest of two Rakhine men.
Four of the missing men have been identified as Yusuf (52), s/o Syed Ahmed, Md Ali (42), s/o Hafez Ahmed, Iman Hossain (42) s/o Faruk Ahmed and Abdus Salam (48) s/o Md Sultan. The two other missing men are outsiders from Maungdaw.
