A Rohingya man is in a critical condition with the flesh of his hands falling off as hospitals continue to deny him treatment.
Nobi Hossain was seriously wounded in his left hand after Rakhine rioters attacked him and his family in 2012. Despite Nobi’s desperate attempts to save them, most of his family members died in the attack and he himself was hit with machetes.
Since then, local hospitals denied him treatment on the grounds he was a rioter. Local sources say Nobi’s only involvement in the violence was the desperate and unsuccessful attempt to save his family.
Even in normal circumstances, Rohingyas are generally not allowed in the hospitals of Arakan state.
In the three years, Nobi’s hand has withered away to reveal the bones in his hand.
