Mr. Nurul Amin met with a deadly accident on 26 February 2016 at about 6pm Bangladesh standard time on his way to return home after completing a high level meeting with the United Nations Agency (International Organization for Migration-IOM) and the Government of Bangladesh on the protection of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and finding durable solution towards the plight of Rohingya in Burma.
He was treating at Chittagong Specialized Treatment & Trauma Center (CSTC), a private hospital in Chittagong. His death was declared by Professor Dr. Kamal at 6:30pm today (March 2, 2016).
He left 3 beloved children and wife, while his eldest child is only 8 years as he married in very late age.
Currently, his children and wife are languishing in undocumented refugee camp of Kutupalong under Ukhiya police station of Cox’s Bazar District, Bangladesh.
He has scarified almost his entire life in people services. He was very sincere, energetic, pious and extra ordinary among Rohingya Arakanese community.
He was one of very important persons for Rohingya, while he obtained Bachelor Degree and Master Degree in History from Rangoon University and later obtained Bachelor of Law (B.L) and held Certificate of High Grade Pleader at Law (H.G.P.R.L) as an advocate for High Court in Burma.
