Burma Times: 02 Oct 2015
You are invited to stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with Rohingya to raise awareness within European and International communities for the persecution and plight of Rohingya, and to try President and ex-General, Thein Sein for the violation of Rohingyas’ right to self-identity and overseeing the systematic ethnic cleansing of more than 1 million Rohingya.
Despite being the most peaceful and only unarmed ethnic group, Rohingya have been persecuted since 1979 by successive military and quasi-civilian governments of Burma (Myanmar) with the implementations of various and exceptional discriminatory laws and campaigns targeted towards Rohingya. Yet, they are viewed as low as ‘animals’ and ‘national security threat’ because of Islam being their religion and distinctive being their culture.
The United Nations considers Rohingya as ‘one of the most persecuted people in the world’. Various human rights organizations, UN Special Rapporteurs, Nobel Peace Prize laureates and a survivor of Holocaust described and levelled the persecutions of Rohingya to a ‘Nazi-Genocide’ and a ‘textbook case of genocide in which an entire indigenous community is being systematically wiped out by the Burmese government.’
Turkey is the forefront runner of humanitarianism and diplomacy in the cause of Rohingya. “Rohingya do not have plans to schedule even for tomorrow,” Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, describing the ever present uncertainty and insecurity that Rohingya are facing in Burma.
To stop the continuous genocidal policies of Burmese government towards the remaining half of the Rohingya population in Burma, to stop Rohingya being forced to drawn in the vast unknown sea and to stop Rohingya being silently suffered in the vast open prison in their homeland, lets join in solidarity with Rohingya to bring back the justice and to try the perpetrators in the court.
