Maung Daw Correspondent: Police have arrested three Rohingya youths for finding mobile phone from their possession when they were sitting at a shop gossiping with one another in the village on 15th of January 2016 at 12.00pm.
However, the youths are identified as Nur Hussain 19 s/o Sayed Ahamed, Md Taher 22 s/o Younus and Nur Kamal 21 s/o Md Siddique of Goduthaya, village of Maung Daw Township. A group of police numbering six led by In charge of Ducheyadaung police camp suddenly reached on two motorcycles to the shop where the three youths were gossiping and caught them. The police searched their bodies and found two mobile phones from them.
Later, they were taken to the police camp of Ducheyadaung of Maung Daw and confined there alleged in finding mobile phones from their possession. No further details are available regarding them, according to a villager who witnessed the incident.
On the other hand, a woman, daughter of Lalaya was also arrested by the same police at the same time for finding mobile phone from her possession. When the police tried to take her to the police camp with the other three youths, the village respectable persons requested the police for her release and they released the woman in exchange of 5,00000 (Five lakh) kyats on the spot. If such harassments on Rohingyas are going on continuously, how can we survive in Arakan, Burma? An elderly man said.
