A group of military personal and Rakhine miscreants brutally assaulted six Rohingyas leaving them unconscious.
On February 1, three military personal and five Rakhines were stealing chickens from impoverished households at Anak parang, Rathidaung township. When the Rohingyas saw this, they protested the incident.
This angered the group and they started assaulting the four men and two women till they lost consciousness. They then took the chickens and left the scene.
Afterwards the military threatened them not to disclose the incident. Despite this, the Rohingyas went to their local representatives to no avail
The victims are still recovering from the assault. Their names have not been disclosed due to security concerns.
The Rohingyas say they were aware of the repercussions of protesting the theft but could not afford to lose their chickens.
