Rohingyas organised a demonstration in Nayapara refugee camp in Bangladesh on Tuesday, according to our correspondent.
The protests were organised as part of a worldwide Rohingya showdown expected in different parts of the world on Wednesday. The programme was organised a day earlier because it is feared that vigilant camp authorities will not permit any activities on Wednesday.
The demonstration of Tuesday was hurriedly organised to escape the attention of camp authorities.
During the demonstration, refugees demanded an end to the 1982 citizenship law which denies citizenship to Rohingya Muslims. The demonstrators also stated that Rohingyas were indigenous to Arakan and demanded rights over the Mayu Frontier district.
