Miscreants robbed a group of Rohingya refugees trying to enter Bangladesh on the pre dawn hours of Wednesday.
At around 4am, 27 Rohingyas crossing over into Bangladesh from Gundum were intercepted by an armed gang of robbers. After the robbers seized the valuables of the refugees, they were handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh.
The gang of miscreants is made up of local men who were originally supposed to guard the border against the inflow of refugees but later switched to robbing.
The Rohingyas were pushed back into Burmese territory at around 9pm.
The group was made of 15 women, seven children and five men.
