Security forces raided the Foyezi neighbourhood near Maungdaw town on Sunday causing panic among local residents.
During the day hours, security personal mostly police entered the Rohingya neighbourhood and began turning the houses upside down for ‘weapons’. They seized agricultural tools especially sharp instruments and recorded the name of the owners, suggesting they might be using these instruments for terrorism.
The security personal claimed they had reliable information that residents were conniving with Bangladesh based terrorists and seemed especially interested about Bangladesh mobile phones.
During the raid the security forces cursed the Rohingyas in foul language and also detained few of the men. They were later released.
The security forces warned the Rohingyas they would face severe consequences if they were found guilty of anti state activities.
