Six Rohingya refugees have been injured by dacoits at the Leda camp on Wednesday night.
At around 12.30 am, around 20 masked men entered the camp and knocked at the houses of Md Ayub, Hamid Hossain, Md Jalal and Noor Hossain in Block D. As the refugees refused to open their doors, they fired shots. However minutes later, refugees from other areas of the camp gathered and mounted a resistance to catch the dacoits.
In response, the dacoits fired gunshots injuring four refugees. They are Hamid Hossain (55), Md Ayub (35), Noor Hossain (25) and Zahed Hossain (14). The criminals also hacked at a couple Md Jalal (35) and Rabeya Begum (25) before getting away.
Police arrived in the scene much later.
Leda camp lies in the midst of a crime prone area.
