A fisherman has been robbed by Natala men in Firing Dong, Rathedaung.
On Tuesday at around 3am, Md Ilias (40) s/o Imam Hossain went to fish in a nearby river. Rohingya Muslims in the area have difficulty carrying out their activities as they are under siege by authorities and Buddhist nationalists in the area.
When he was returning in the morning, a group of Natala robbers ambushed him and took away his fish.
“My family had nothing to eat for the last two days,” said Yusuf as he broke down into tears. “So I went at this hour to get them something. All morning I was thinking of their smiles when I bought them the food.”
Locals in Rathedaung say that Natala villagers are regularly robbing Muslims without any response from the authorities.
