A couple at Lilam Bahara, Rathidaung has had their lives turned upside down because of a Tabbe’s cruelty.
Elam Bahar (19), d/o Bashir Ahmed and Rahim Ullah (24) s/o Rabiul Alam got married without the permission of concerned authorities because they could not afford the money. Under Burmese law, Rohingya Muslims need permission for marriage, which is only given after the payment of substantial bribe money.
When Elam got pregnant, the family approached elders in the area, who had promised to take care of them. They spoke to the local Aishwaramu.
However the Tabbe afer taking 160,000 kyats a year ago had not registered the baby, which is almost two months now.
As Rahim Ullah went to the Tabbe, he and his gang assaulted him and threatened to hand him, along with his wife and the baby to the police.
The family is now passing their days in terror fearing the worst.
