Maungdaw, western Burma:-The enumerators are threatening the Rohingya Muslim in Kyein Chaung /Bolibaza, Maungdaw r. They examined four of the families without asking the race and religion and asked only name and age after having asked above four families and went to next family for the verification and asked his name and age while he was sitting at the veranda. One of the Rohingya respondents asked a question from the enumerators that Rohingya must be written in census since we, Rohingyas have been living in this country for many decades and we belong to it like others who ethnically belong to this country and we should have the same rights as others enjoying in this country and as like as you Buddhists do.
Abu Alom who asked the question was slapped and insulted by the enumerators; finally captured his image, and the remained other families are in fear for the future action by the Burmese authorities and the enumerators then left the place without examining other families.
The examined families stated that the papers and pencils are erasable and removable, at anytime ,the government designated enumerators can change the term “Rohingya” as “ Baengali” which was written in front of respondents in the conducted census, reported by senior correspondent of Burma Times .
