President Thein Sein visited Buthidaung town on Friday morning as part of his tour to flood affected regions in the country.
The president was accompanied by chief minster of the state Major General Maung Maung Ohn.
During the tour, the president gathered together Rakhine and Rohingya community leaders at the meeting hall of the Military Operation Command 1.
The president expressed pleasure at the presence of both Rakhine and Rohingya community leaders in the same place and said he looked forward for communal harmony.
Earlier the president directed government officials in Akyab to direct aid to people irrespective of their race or religion.
Since the cyclone, government officials and security forces have only aided the Buddhists and totally ignored the Rohingya populace, who are the worst sufferers of the cyclone.
