A Buddhist chairman from Longdu para, Maungdaw North demanded 100,000 kyats each from three Muslim boys, according to our local correspondent.
Soi Maung alleged that the three teenage boys were smuggling solar power units from across the border.
Two of the boys paid the money to the chairman. However, one of them Abul Kalam (17), s/o Shomsu Haque refused to pay saying that he had nothing to do with any illegal activity.
Soi MAung has threatened to hand the boy over to the BGP.
Our sources say none of the three boys were involved in smuggling.
