Three more women have allegedly been sold into the sex industry based in India.
22 year Solima Khatun from Naffura, 25 year Ramiza Begum from Somboinna and 21 year Ramiza Begum from Hayenkhali crossed into Bangladesh from the Taimbru region. They were en route to India.
The women left Arakan because there were fears they would be raped. All their fathers were killed in the 2012 riots and they had no relatives to protect them.
Traffickers had promised their families that they would get good husbands among the Rohingya community based in Hyderabad. But after they crossed over into India together, family members could not get hold of them.
Now sources in India have confirmed that the traffickers had sold them into the sex industry.
