A fish trader has been arrested and fined by police in Balukhali, Maungdaw North.
Solim Ullah (39) s/o Syed Noor exports fish from the area to Bangladesh. He pays a substantial amount of money to the BGP for this export.
On Wednesday, the Chengum of the area told him that he must pay money to the local tabbes also. Solim protested saying that he has a very small business and could not afford any additional costs.
In response the Chengum informed the police that Solim was selling yaba pills to Bangladesh. Police then arrested and questioned him. His employee Abdul Shukkur (27) s/o Md Yunus was also arrested.
Though police found no evidence of their involvement in the yaba trade, they were fined 200,000 kyats.
