A human trafficker has retuned to Gojjondia in Maungdaw South. He and his gang are roaming around freely in the village.
Siraj Ullah is a notorious human trafficker in the region. The human trafficking racket in the area is well protected by the BGP.
Locals allege Siraj has trafficked many women from Maungdaw and Buthidaung. He used to keep the women in his house till they boarded the boats.
Although the Burmese government has promised the international community to crack down on human traffickers, most of them have good relations with authorities especially the BGP.
In contrast, the government is preparing charges against innocent Rohingyas rescued from boats off the coast of the country. The government is trying hard to prove that most boat people are Bangladeshis and not Burmese residents.
There are reports that the government is preparing a list of activists who shall be charged with trafficking.
