Traffickers and their aides in Bangladesh have been hit hard by the discovery of mass graves in Thailand. In the past few days, business has stopped completely. Many ships are actually coming back to the Bangladesh coast.
Many local Bengalis living especially near the Rohingya populated areas have become involved in the human trafficking business. They are now worried because they believe their livelihoods face an existential threat.
The hardened criminals at the top of the ring however feel that this is only a temporary setback. They too are however appalled at the loss of their income.
Without the lucrative human trafficking business, economy in areas such as Nayapara will collapse, fears locals.
Many Rohingyas have also become involved in the trafficking business. They are well protected by their hooligans and the Bangladesh state machinery that profit from the multi million dollar business. Many government officials, policeman and politicians will also count a huge loss in this situation.
Most victims are Rohingyas but there is a large number of Bengalis. Some of them were kidnapped and put into the boat.
