Adnan Januzaj feels “humiliated” by Jose Mourinho for shoving him towards the Old Trafford exit.
Belgium international Januzaj is set to join Sunderland on loan for the season after new manager Mourinho dumped him from Manchester United’s first team squad and ordered him to train with the Under-21s.
Mourinho has stripped the 21-year-old of club legend Ryan Giggs’ iconic No 11 shirt, and the upset winger claims he has not given him any explanation.
Januzaj is also upset that United are shipping him out on loan to Sunderland when he would prefer a permanent move to cut his ties with the club.
He would like to move to either Serie A or La Liga, but United are keen to do a temporary deal with their former boss David Moyes – the man who gave Januzaj his big break at Old Trafford three years ago and is now in charge at the Stadium of Light.
A source close to the player says he feels “humiliated” by Mourinho and believes he deserved better treatment because he has been a first-team player for the last three seasons.
Manchester City’s £47.5million signing of Everton defender John Stones triggered a chain reaction of other signings yesterday with Swansea’s Ashley Williams moving to Everton.
And the Toffees are also set to sign Yannick Bolasie from Crystal Palace for an initial £25million.
That, in turn, will free up Palace to sign Christian Benteke from Liverpool.
Elsewhere, Arsenal are still eyeing a defender and a deal for Shkondran Mustafi is looking likely. If that fails then Jonny Evans remains an alternative option.
The Gunners are also interested in bringing another striker to the Emirates but that search is looking increasingly desperate.
