Even though, after the appearance of new legislative body under the supremacy of elected NLD and performing consecutive sessions, still the transition of power is unlikely due to some constitutional crises.
“I’ve to say cynical yet about the transition of power as it would be happened smoothly” said Khun Htun Oo, the leader of Shan National League for Democracy (SNLD).
He said himself is heavily concerned about the constitutional dilemma would bring the change. “The alteration of legislature was taken place but the move of power is still remained a great concern” he added on February 10.
Khun Htun Oo predicted as the movement of constitutional Act 59 (f) may come the same with the situation of Act 436.
According to Khun Htun Oo, many rumors are heard as if NLD likes 59 (f) to be suspended then the administration of 3 states and one division will be kept under military. Similar demands of 9 or 10 seats in cabinet as well keeping the Justice under military must be followed. He annotated “if changing of 59 (f) remains unsolved then it will appear no good and difficulties for both sides.
Recently the military mouthpiece Myawaddy news agency mentioned in one of the articles that amendment of 59 (f) should be avoidable. Likewise, President Thein Sein expressed in his formal message to legislature recent days as he expects the legislative body will perform the amendment accordingly as mentioned in the constitution.
Beside, Maj-Gen Tauk Htun, a military lawmaker a few days ago said that the phenomenon of amending section 59 would be in accordance with the way mentioned in the constitution. According to constitution, to amend the law it needs only 75 % of the civil lawmakers but the support of military lawmakers is also needed and then needs to hold a public referendum.
Regarding the talk of Daw Suu as she would live above the president, Khun Htun Oo said it will be very difficulties in diplomatic and political processes. He added “we have to watch what will be happened later March 17”.
